Tentative Azalea Festival Schedule

Garden Adventures Nursery has hosted the Nixa Azalea Festival annually since spring of 2008. Over the last 5 years Azalea gardens have been planted in various locations in Nixa and Freemont Hills. In 2011 Nixa was awarded Azalea City status by the Azalea Society of America.

Azaleas plantings have been planted at Nixa Fire Station No2 in fall 2009 and Nixa Fire Station No 1 in spring 2010. The Welcome Garden on highway 160 north of Nixa was planted in December 2010 and Azalea plantings in Freemont Hills in April 2011.

2011 also saw the formation of the Nixa Azalea Festival Association. This is a non-profit organization set up to raise funds to develop the Gardens at Woodfield. The gardens are a collaborative effort between the City of Nixa and the Association and are located two blocks south of Nixa City Hall. The first trees were planted in June and work began on the walking trails. As funds are raised trees, shrubs and azaleas will be planted.

The 5th Nixa Azalea Festival will be held from 28th-29th April 2012 with a tour of Azalea gardens in and around Nixa, classes on growing Azaleas and Art in the Garden.

As well as the Festival there will be events through the year, starting with Winter Wonderland and including the golf tournament, disc golf tournament and the Autumn Festival. See the (NAFA) website and our Events and Education page for more information.
